Blogs vs Wikis

Blogs and Wikis are a new form of communication, for the Internet era. Normally we would call people up on the phone to talk to them, but with the fast pace of society today, and the information needed at times at a moments notice, this is not always the way of communication. So comes along the Internet with Blogs and Wikis.

Blogs are more of a one sided topic. Occasionally one may get feed back from others and something they do not. However the information that they put out into their blogs can be important if the information is from a credited source. Now if there are several credited source talking about the same things on each of their blogs, we can get a lot of valuable information. Even more so when each blog starts to collaborate with each other. Even if one has arguments to make about a subject, we can often search blogs to find out if we are thinking on the same path.

As for Wikis, wikis can be used for many different types of situations. Sometime to start a new product by getting information from other. Still Wikis can be used in companies as a part of their intranet. By doing this the company can have in the wiki, many different parts of the company policies on it. Or the company could have many documents the field Representatives might need, and they just need to log on to retrieve those documents or forms.

in today's society, the importance of Blogs and Wikis has become a very important convergence, in which society is needing more and more information faster, Blogs and Wikis have come to the aid by having information available at times in a moments notice for everyone in the family, to company employee's, to the whole world.

From wikis being used from simple information dictionaries to a company's intranet, it is hard to tell where the next time you will find a wiki being used. Maybe the next time you see it being used will be in law enforcement. Having the local and State Police, along with the C.I.A., F.B.I and the rest of the government's alphabet soup, we would see them using it as a central area for most wanted to terrorist threats. Everyone being on the same page and able to update information at a moments notice or get that information.
